Below is a message I posted on our Mocksports.com message board about the opening of our Perfect Season football contest for 2005. We've run it since 2002 and it's always been fun. You're encouraged to enter.
The 2005 Perfect Season contest is underway. You can't yet submit your picks for week one, but you can enter, and I urge you to do so by clicking here.
You can win a 2006 In-Season newsletter, which I find indispensable, or a 2006 FFM Super Bowl Package, 2005 retail value $59.95. You could also win $250 for a Perfect Season, but really, come on now.
This year's entry fee is up to $25 from $17 in previous years, with $10 from each entry going to Catholic Charities for its Katrina relief and recovery efforts. I will scan and upload my receipt for that donation after I make it. (I doubt you'll be able to use it for tax purposes, but it'll prove to you I made it!)
If you're unfamiliar with the contest, it's a lot of fun. Each week, entrants pick:
* One (1) player they think will pass for a touchdown. * One (1) player they think will successfully make a field goal. * One (1) NFL team they think will win its game.
The catch is, you can't pick a quarterback, a kicker or a team more than once in a season.
Each week, if your team wins, your quarterback throws a touchdown and your kicker makes a field goal, you're on your way to a Perfect Season. If you slip up once or twice, that's ok... you'll could still win a terrific prize from Fantasy Football Mastermind for running the table in any one category (win, TD pass, FG -- limited to one prize contest-wide). And whichever entrant has the greatest number of correct picks for the entire season also gets a jump on 2006 with Fantasy Football Mastermind premium services.
Winners are determined as follows:
* Highest total aggregate number of correct picks in all three categories, total season. * 17 straight correct picks in any category (limited to one winner). * 51/51 correct picks (Perfect Season).
If you participated in previous years but not last year, you'll be delighted to hear the picking process became a lot better and more automated, sort of like entering your football lineup, last year thanks to John Kobe.
Enter today and we'll have another fun season. Also we'll round up some money for a good and urgent cause.
