Who are these people?

The website where we do all this fantasy sports is now home to some fantasy hockey leagues that had been on Compuserve these many years. I took a team in a new draft league after, as you may or may not recall, sort of sitting out the last few years as a hockey fan. The results of last night's draft were pretty entertaining. Below the fold is my team of nine forwards, five defensemen, three goalies, two teams and four "wild cards," with the players I hadn't heard of at all before yesterday in bold.

In order picked:

Joe Thornton F BOS
Jason Spezza F OTT
Tomas Vokoun G NSH
Sidney Crosby F PIT
Marek Zidlicky D NSH
Andrew Raycroft G BOS
Bill Guerin F DAL
Bryan Berard D CBJ
Nikolai Khabibulin G CHI
Marian Gaborik F MIN
Adrian Aucoin D CHI
Tuomo Ruutu F CHI
Jordan Leopold D CAL
Jeff O'Neill F TOR
Thomas Vanek F BUF
Philadelphia Flyers team
Saku Koivu F MON
Eric Brewer D STL
Los Angeles Mighty Ducks of Anaheim team
John LeClair WC PIT
Tyler Arnason WC CHI
Dmitri Kalinin WC BUF
Joffrey Lupul WC ANA

How'd I do? Of course some of the players I'd heard of, I had no context for. Jason Spezza was supposed to be a superstar by now, but apparently, he was in the minors all last year. [There was a strike, dummy. Well, yeah.] This year The Hockey News thinks he's going to have a good year, and they haven't let me down in years! I'd heard of Ruutu and Kalinin as a fan of the Blackhawks and Sabres in context of "they're going to be really good someday"; I really don't have any idea if someday is now, or what. This is one of those situations where you come out of a fantasy draft thinking you should really run away with the league, but knowing you probably feel that way because everyone else knows things you don't.
