New CDs

Extraordinary Machine by Fiona Apple and Brandi Carlile by Brandi Carlile arrived today. I've listened to them both twice and been impressed. I remain in awe of Fiona Apple just... because, and Brandi Carlile has a very rich voice and writes good songs. She looks about 16 and so makes me feel old, but that's not her fault.

I've uploaded a few songs from each on the radio.blog on my front page. Let me know what you think.

Let me recommend you some radio stations I've been listening to lately (someone took the TV out of my office. I haven't seen Amy Robach in months):

91.3 The Summit is a local member-supported Akron station that has a decent if repetitive playlist. You can only really get it over the air within Akron city limits but you can get an mp3 stream.

Macro Rock Radio is more eclectic than its name.

Regular Guy Radio startles me by mostly playing songs I own on CD.

And Musical Justice is a little livelier and more intense, if you're in the mood.

Fiona Apple awes me too.

I stream KCRW. No commercials, great music, all hand-picked. Not local to Ohio, I know. But still better than any radio station I run across.

Frick! They're having a pledge drive! Why would you do that to me? Disclaimers, let's be generous!

You can stream just a steady diet of KCRW music on iTunes during those pledge times. That's one public radio station I don't give to. They are in no danger of going in the red.
