Santo subito

I admit it: As a modern, western, rational man, I don't believe in miracles. Anything can happen, I always say, and things we think are extraordinary enough to beg a possible supernatural explanation will happen again given enough rolls of the dice. So I don't know what to make of the beatification effort for John Paul II. One of the requirements is proof of a miracle, attributed to him, that occurred after his death? I would imagine proving the ones attributed to him that occurred while he was alive would be difficult enough.

I risk hell for saying this, but it almost seems like a Catholic Hall of Fame. Complete with a five year waiting period! Which can be waived in extraordinary circumstances! To the extent that's true, I would think John Paul II would be a shoo-in.

Here is a website devoted to the beatification and canonization of John Paul II.
