Empty sky
A mini-playlist for the fifth anniversary of September 11, 2001, from Bruce Springsteen's The Rising:
Empty Sky
Into the Fire
Worlds Apart
You're Missing
The Rising
My City of Ruins
My favorite song from that album is Lonesome Day, but these six tell the story of September 11 better. Empty Sky is particularly poignant. An "empty sky" refers to a number of things: There being no twin towers in the skyline; there being no planes in the sky for a few days after the attacks; being abandoned by God. Anyway, Neil Young and Charlie Daniels and whoever can make half-assed attempts to sing about that day but the Boss has thankfully made all that unnecessary.
If the songs on the radio.blog player below match the list above, click here to launch the playlist. You can click on a song below you want to listen to, too, but then you need to keep this page open. Unless you hit 'Pop-up' at the bottom of the player.
If the songs you see below are different from the songs you see above, scroll down in the player till you find this playlist. I keep the last few loaded for stragglers.
Or if you don't find it in the player at all, this is an old post, what are you doing here? Here are the (mostly) weekly playlist archives. Pick a newer one.
